David Nott Podcast
For the past 30 years, surgeon David Nott has taken unpaid leave from the NHS to volunteer in some of the world’s most dangerous war zones and natural disaster areas.
In 2015, with his wife Elly, he set up the David Nott Foundation; since then, the foundation has provided some 800 doctors with the specialist training required to save lives torn apart by bombs and bullets.
In conversation with Elly, David recalls the risks and rewards of an exceptional humanitarian career. He discusses his time working with organisations such as the British Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières, the dangers he has faced, and the perspective danger brings. He also reflects on the challenges presented, here and abroad, by the ‘new enemy’, COVID-19.
