Produced by Burroughs, machines like this one were in daily use around the bank until the mid 20th century.

William Seward Burroughs, a former bank clerk, began making adding machines in the 1880s.  His new-fangled machines faced stiff resistance from clerks and book keepers who feared they would lead to sweeping redundancies.
